First of all I have to start this by saying I am die hard Bobbi Brown fan. I have been using their Long Wear Gel Eyeliner since it launched. I also use the which I have also reviewed. But, after reading so many rave reviews about Maybelline’s Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner I had to try it and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it.

Here is my review of Maybelline’s Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner:

Effect on eyes: I love that you can use to create the softness of pencil eyeliner or the drama of a liquid liner. And, both Maybelline’s Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner and Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Gel Eyeliner were able to create both these looks seamlessly.

Longevity: I was really surprised at how well Maybelline’s Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner lasted on my eyes, especially as I have oily skin. I am not quite sure if Maybelline’s Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner lives up to its claims of being smudge proof and water proof for 24 hours. But, it did last a full working day (over 10 hours) without much of a struggle and is definitely on par with Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Gel Eyeliner’s lasting power.

Consistency: The Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner is creamier than Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Gel Eyeliner. I didn’t like this at first, but it actually made it easier to correct mistakes, and it set in place once it dried.

Application: Maybelline’s Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner was marginally better as it creamier it made it easier to define lines, especially on the upper lash line.

I did find that the intensity of the pigments in Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner was not quite up to Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Gel Eyeliner standard. But, only marginally. If you like your eyeliner more intense, you may find you need to go over the line again.

Colours: This is the biggest let down for me. Maybelline’s shade selection cannot compare to Bobbi Brown’s. Maybelline has only 4 shades for you to choose from. But, to be fair they have the standard colours black, brown and charcoal that every girl uses.

Price: At only £7.99 the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner is a bargain compared to Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Gel Eyeliner which costs £17.50.

Packaging: The Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner comes in a translucent pot similar to Bobbi Brown’s, but not as sophisticated.  But, for the price difference who really cares!  Maybelline even throw in a free brush.  Do not expect any freebies with Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Gel Eyeliner; you will have to buy a brush at extra cost.

The Maybelline eyeliner brush is tapered making it easier to follow the curve of your eye and draw thinner lines, especially if like me you don’t have a stead hand.  It is now my go to brush for applying gel liner.

Overall: The Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner does the same job as Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Gel eyeliner at half the price. I am definitely converted!

I will try to add more articles from now on, I want to thank again Estelle for the opportunity she gave me making me part of ‘s team

Love,

Nicole
