1. Do Not Shave Where The Razor Burn Exists.
First of all, if you want to solve a problem you could easily do it preventing it to happen. So you can read how you can avoid irritation and bumps from shaving. If it happened anyways, you should definitely avoid shaving the areas where the bumps appear. Just leave them alone to allow the ingrown hairs to emerge and your skin to heal itself using some of the ways we suggest below.
2. Aspirin Paste To Treat Irritation
Use 2 tablets of aspirin with small amount of water (around 1/4 cup) and use a spoon to mix it in order to create a paste. Rub this paste on your legs where you have bumps. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and when it dries, remove it using a damp cloth and rinse with lukewarm water to reduce the swelling and enhance the skin’s natural healing. Repeat this process 3 times per week. This is an excellent homemade remedy which will greatly help the skin on your legs to recover fast.

Raw Shea Butter
Another great way to treat the affected area is to use natural cosmetics. One of the best natural antibacterial and soothing cosmetics for this purpose is . It will help to soothe the irritation and keep your skin soft.
Add one tablespoon of baking soda in a cup of water and mix it. Soak a cotton ball in this mix and dab it on your skin where you have the problem. Let it stay about 5 minutes and then rinse using cold water. Baking soda is a good treatment that can reduce the itchy feeling and the redness of the skin.
Also, apply gel on the irritated skin just before you go to sleep. Let it stay for a while and rinse with cold water. Aloe Vera is known for its soothing and moisturizing properties and will greatly help to relieve your skin and keep it well hydrated.
Honey and Apple Cider Vinegar
Honey has great antibacterial properties and helps the razor bumps to soothe. Apple Cider Vinegar is used to reduce the redness and inflammation.
- Layer the area of the skin where you have razor bumps with honey and let it stay for about 5 minutes.
- Rinse it with cold water and let it dry
- Apply vinegar on the infected area using a cotton ball.
- Let it dry and sit overnight.
- The disadvantage of this method is that vinegar has a somewhat bad smell. This is why you have to do this at night.
The black tea is rich in tannic acid that greatly helps to reduce inflammation and redness. Just take a bag of tea and add it to warm water. Let it stay for 2 minutes and after that apply the tea using a cotton ball.

4. Acne Medication
Consult your dermatologist and use a 2.5% or 5% benzoyl peroxide medication for acne once per day. Your dermatologist can decide how often you will apply this treatment in order to treat your razor bumps problem. This medication can prevent the creation of new razor bumps and minimize all the existing ones.
In order to loosen the ingrown hairs , use a natural or chemical exfoliant on the skin. You could use a sponge with an antibacterial cleanser in order to coax out the hairs that are growing in the opposite direction and decrease the existing bacteria on the skin.
